Note from the editor:

The Bowery Rescue Mission, now known as The Bowery Mission, is an organization In New York that works to combat homelessness and hunger. Harvey Haines listened to their presentation in 1929, 57 years after their inception, and they are still in service now, 150 years later. As of this journal entry, Black Monday (the crash of the stock market) had not yet occurred.
